A Tribute gives family members and friends the opportunity to celebrate the life of a loved one, now and for years to come. This article will walk you through the steps of publishing a tribute or obituary along with photos. For tips on what to include in the tribute, please see the article What to write in an Obituary or Tribute.

  1. In order to get started, you must locate the death record for your loved one in our database. Go to the Tributes homepage and type in their name and designate the timeframe of their date death in the search box on the upper left hand side of the page and click “Search.” If you’re not sure of the time of death, select ALL.

On the list of search results, locate the person you are searching for and click on their name. ***If you can’t locate a record, please send us an email at support@tributes.com so we can create a record for your loved one. Please provide us with the following: Full name, date of birth, date of death, last place of residence.

  3. Click on “Edit this obituary…Write their story”

  4. If you have a Tributes account, enter your log-in information. If you are not a member, you will need to go through the registration process.

    Once registered and/or logged-in, you may input your text – 1000 characters of text are allowed. If you would like to add more information along with photos, you will be given the opportunity after this step is completed to create a tribute which offers unlimited text, a memory journal and photo upload capabilities. Once completed, click “Enhance this Obituary.” ***Please Note: any of the original text of the death notice that you edit or delete will be permanently altered and replaced with your changes.

  5. Once your initial edits are saved, if you would like to continue on to enhance the record further and create a tribute, click “Add More…Upgrade this obituary”

  6. Here you can add unlimited text and a main photo. Be sure to click, “save”!

  7. After you click “save” your tribute will display and you can now add additional photos for the slideshow. Also, click the “Email family & friends” button to encourage others to leave a memory in the memory journal.

  8. Return as often as you like to add more content and photos or to read new memory journal postings.
