Walter was born on August 26, 1926 and passed away on Friday, October 5, 2007.

He was last known to be living in Akron, Ohio.

Walter received two degrees from Columbia University. He earned his Ph.D. in 1959 at The University of Wisconsin.

Dr. Macior served in the United States Army during World War II as a Japanese linguist.

Walter (Father Lazarus) was a priest for 51 years, and a member of the Franciscan Friars of the Assumption BVM Province.

In science, Dr. Macior is known for his pollination ecology studies of North American vernal herbs. He was a Professor of Biology at the University of Akron, and extended his pollination biology studies to Pedicularis in the Rocky Mountains to remote regions in China, Japan, Kashmir, and Nepal.

At Dr. Macior's request, there will be no services or calling hours. He will be interred with his parents at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, in Sleepy Hollow, New York.
